Dear students,
Happy New Year and best wishes for 2012! We've had an exciting season this past year. Our school welcomed guest teachers Auxi Fernandez, Antonio Hidalgo, and Ileana Gomez. By special request, our advanced students danced in two operas for New York City's Amore Opera, "Carmen" and "I due Figaro." Our students also participated in the Hispanic Day Parade. Lastly, some of our more advanced students participated in a special documentary celebrating the anniversary of UNESCO's recognition of flamenco as a part of the "intangible world heritage of humanity." This was choreographed by Jorge Navarro and featured the guest artist Rafael Amargo. To celebrate the end of this successful season, we had a Sevillanas party at Alegrias. We look forward to an exciting upcoming season with more opportunities to perform! We hope that you will keep coming to class so you can continue to grow and improve in the flamenco performing arts.
2012 Classes Schedule:
*Absolute Beginners: Monday & Wednesday at 6:30 pm at DNA
*Beginners: Saturday at 1 pm at Flamenco Vivo
*Advanced: Tuesday at 6:30 pm & Saturday at 2:30 pm at Flamenco Vivo

The New York State Council of the Arts (NYSCA) and the American Music Center have given grants to Alegrias en La Nacional. We also received generous donations from individuals and private foundations, particularly the Daniel Rosenblatt Foundation. Generosity from grantors and donors is critical to helping us keep presenting the best Flamenco in New York City!
