Jorge Navarro

Jorge Navarro's ardent devotion to Flamenco rhythm, music, and dance is readily evident. His involvement in Flamenco, Classical Spanish Dance, and Baile Español spans more than thirty years: first as a dance company member, then lead dancer & soloist, and finally as the founder and director of a number of companies.

His work as a dancer, choreographer, instructor, lecturer, restauranteur, actor, and artistic director have all had their basis in Flamenco.

He has toured worldwide as a principal dancer and director of Flamenco companies and has appeared on the great stages of Carnegie Hall, Jacob's Pillow and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. His film credits include, among many others, "Take Me Out Tonight," "Death of My Past," and "Devil's Advocate." In addition to his role in Devil's Advocate, Mr. Navarro was the dance and choreography consultant to the director of the film and taught choreography to Al Pacino. Mr. Navarro has been teaching Flamenco dance for more than twenty years, conducting workshops across the United States, and as distantly as South Korea.

Currently, Mr. Navarro is the Artistic Director of the The New York Center For Flamenco Performing Arts/ArtsFlamenco, as well as being the proprietor of Alegrias - a venue that hosts Friday & Saturday evening performances of Flamenco music and dance at La Nacional in New York City.
